Fall Move-In will occur between August 13-16, 2024. Move-In days and times will be appointed based on your residence hall and floor. Please do not book travel before finalizing your room reservation.

To ensure a seamless move-in process for all, please do all you can to adhere to your assigned move-in date and time. Appointment timeslots are 45 minutes long. For example, if a student has a reservation for 8:00 a.m., they may arrive to check in between 8:00 and 8:45 a.m.

If, for any reason, you are not able to make your assigned date, you are welcome to move in anytime after your assigned time or the following weekend, on Aug 16-18. Residents arriving on or after Friday, August 16, should check in at their area's front desk instead of checking in at the Union Building.

CHECK-IN INSTRUCTIONS

STEP 1:Check in at the Union. Residents should arrive on campus at their given arrival time and proceed directly to the Ray Olpin Student Union (200 S, Central Campus Dr, Salt Lake City, UT 84112) for check-in. Please follow signage to park in designated HRE check-in parking areas.

  • Exception: Students residing in Downtown Commons 1 & 2 should anticipate arriving on Friday, August 16 to their assigned building to complete check-in during their appointed timeslot. Students residing in these buildings who arrive after the August 16th check-in window should visit the Marriott Honors Community (MHC) Front Desk to complete the check-in process.

STEP 2: Head to your area's unloading zone or designated waiting area. After completing your check-in process, you will exit the Union parking lot and proceed to your area’s designated unloading zone or waiting area until an unloading spot is available.

  • Due to VERY limited space, all vehicles will be asked to roll up, unload, and roll out. Staff will be onsite to assist with and guide these efforts!

STEP 3: Move your vehicle to the Rice Eccles Stadium Lot or other designated overflow lot. After unloading items, vehicles that will remain on campus should be moved out of the unloading areas to our temporary overflow lots for the duration of the move-in period (August 13 - 16). Shuttles will run 8/13 - 8/15 for main campus move-in, students with the appropriate parking passes can move their vehicles to their residential lots beginning 8/16.

STEP 4: Shuttle back to finish unpacking. Shuttles will operate throughout the day to take you back to your residence hall and allow you to finish unpacking and settle in!

Move-In Guests

  • Please only bring individuals necessary to support your move-in.
  • Your guests are not able to go inside the Union to assist during the check-in process. Please only have guests enter your assigned building, room, and dining hall facilities.

Once you've finished unloading, you should move your car to the Stadium Lot or other designated overflow lot and shuttle back to your residence hall to finish unpacking.

Parking

During move-in, you will not be able to park in the lots adjacent to your buildings. Once move-in has been completed, you will be able to move your car closer. A parking permit is required to park your vehicle on campus. Visit Commuter Services to purchase a parking permit and for all parking-related questions.

Early move-in

Students who elect to participate in the early move-in process must be involved in a university-organized event to be eligible for an early arrival. The early arrival fee is $40/day. If a student is not part of an affiliated group or sports team, they may still request an early arrival, which will be approved/unapproved based on availability. The last day for individuals to request an early move-in is July 26 at 5:00 p.m. MST.

Note: Students participating in early arrival as part of a U-affiliated organization or group will be administratively registered by the HRE Office in July. Please contact your group coordinator/coach if you have any questions about your arrival window.
