While you are currently probably stressing about finals, let's take a minute to reflect on some of the fun coming to Salt Lake City this summer! Salt Lake City is a booming place in the summer and winter—but in the winter most people go up the mountain. If this is your first summer staying in Salt Lake, look for events going on to stay active, busy, and connected!
Concerts
Visit Kilby Court for a small concert feel. Kilby Court has tickets ranging from approximately10-25 dollars. Keeping the experience cost affordable makes it super easy to go with friends or family. It being located in Salt Lake City makes it easy to access for students with or without cars—if you don’t have a car, use your UCard to access UTA public transit for free.
Camping
On campus at the Student Life Center, you can access a wide range of gear to take outside, from kayaks to lanterns. Utilize your UID to rent materials from Campus Recreation at a low cost for a day or a weekend. Check out their website to pre-order or reserve items for pick up to take on your endeavors outside.
Farmer’s Markets
Visit downtown and other locations to find local fresh food, vendors, and small businesses. Starting around June, downtown hosts a few farmers markets . when walking around Salt Lake City, or visiting other cities, it is easy to run into a market along the way. Check local Instagram pages, farmers market blogs, and ask small businesses if they know of anything going on.
Painting
Visit Color Me Mine—only a 20-minute bus ride from campus—and pick your own ceramic piece to paint for future use. Being able to get out and do something fun for a bit while also being creative can be so relieving.
Sugar House Park
Absolutely stunning views, joyful people, dogs, and maybe some slacklining. Sugar House Park is a safe, walkable park for many activities like picnics, hammocking, playing with your dog. Get out in the sun and enjoy the summer weather, just don't forget sunscreen.
Line Dancing
Dusty Boot Dancing is such a fun mid-week activity. On Thursdays and Saturday nights, go check out Dusty Boot Dancing, a fun place for all skill levels to try out line and swing dances. For $8-10, dance all night long with your friends or partner. Dust off your boots and start swinging.
Hopefully these ideas can be added to your summer bucket list and help entertain you this summer in Salt Lake City. Take advantage of the events on campus this summer as well but also venture off campus to explore.
